In Wau, South Sudan, women farmers are at the heart of their communities, growing food, raising livestock, and supporting their families.
Through a project led by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, thousands of women have received training in climate-smart agriculture, nutrition, and entrepreneurship.
Women like Rebecca, Grace, and Viola have used these skills to launch small businesses, raise livestock, and grow diverse kitchen gardens that improve household nutrition and income. Their efforts show how empowering women farmers can strengthen food security and resilience across entire communities.
