Dr. Penny Perkins-Veazie has received the Distinguished Service Award from both the North American Raspberry and Blackberry Growers Association (NARBA) and the North American Strawberry Growers Association (NASGA) for her decades-long contributions to postharvest research.

Known for her groundbreaking work on fruit composition, shelf-life extension, and the health benefits of anthocyanins, Perkins-Veazie helped shape today’s shipping and storage standards for blackberries and other small fruits, with her protocols still in use in breeding programs across the U.S.
