In the Mississippi Delta, third-generation farmer Marquitrice Mangham is tackling food insecurity head-on through her nonprofit In Her Shoes and the launch of Farmacy Marketplace — a grocery store and mobile produce truck that brings fresh food to underserved rural communities.

Mangham, a U.S. Army veteran, also trains local growers in sustainable practices, business planning, and market access through a nine-month farm education program.
Since 2018, she’s helped house more than 300 people and trained over 200 farmers. Her mission is simple: empower communities to grow their own future — one seed, one meal, and one farm at a time.
